I'm going to Carolina in my mind..

Actually I'm only going to Indiana. I leave work early at 2 today and am heading out of town to go see some family with my family (does that make sense?). Anyways if you don't know the blog title is a line from a James Taylor song. I remember listening to it when i was younger while on road trips with my dad. So in case you were wondering, thats how i know the song. Well that and all the years of Muzak while working retail!

So today my outfit had to based on comfort but still appropriate for work since I had to work today before heading out. So 1 I needed layers and 2 I wanted to feel wrapped in some kind of blanket. This shirt actually feels like that to me so its a winner! So what are you weekend plans?

I base my fashion sense on what doesn't itch!!

The title of this post is so very true for me. Its a saying but I can't remember from who. Anyway when i'm buying stuff if it itches at all it doesn't go in my bag!! This means I don't have a lot of wool and my closet consists of mostly cotton items. Cotton is my friend!! In the winter I have really dry itchy skin so i try to make sure only soft things go on so i'm not like a dog scratching at fleas. Its unfortunate sometimes because I find great items at the thrift store a lot that I would love to buy. I try to justify it but in the end it just doesn't happen because I know how I am.

The outfit for today started out a lot differently. I had a grey turtleneck, a grey cardigan, and a tunnel scarf set aside to wear with these pants. After getting them on I decided that I didn't like the look. In the end I decided to wear my new vest that I just got last week and add some much needed accessories so the outfit didn't look boring. I must say that this is a great outfit!!

We're almost there...

Its Wednesday so you know what that means, we are almost to the weekend! Let me hear a collective...YIPPEEEE!! I actually will be leaving work early on Friday to go out of town for the weekend so I've got a lot to do when I get home tonight and tomorrow night. Laundry, packing, cooking, and what not!

Yesterday while looking at Kimberly's inspiration calendar (www.fabfindsunder50.com) I noticed that for today it said plaid and polka dots. Very unfortunaetly the only thing that I have that is polka dots is socks. I was gonna do the plaid and polka dots but I decided to skip it and wear this so she sorta helped me find today's outfit even if it doesn't match the inspiration for today. Thanks.

Bright: The yellow blazer that might bring out the sun!

Well what can I say...I'm a bright woman!! I found this jacket at the thrift store last week. I haven't really done the long blazer with shoulder pads yet so I figured since this one was both of those things it was right up my alley, also because its YELLOW!! One of my favorite colors. I love that it will brighten up my dreary winter clothes but will also fit in perfectly with my summer weardrobe!! Sorry for the funky face in the bottom picture. I guess I was in a mood today. Well guys I'm getting back into the routine of things again. I'm just glad i'm going to see family this weekend!! That will be sooooo fun! So how have things been for all of you?

Some things just look better in pictures!!

My outfit looks a lot more blue because of the wondeful blue winter light. Since we got pounded with more snow today we had to take my weardrobe picture after work instead of before work. I bought this dress and after wearing it have decided thats its a little too big. I wasn't feeling the outfit and almost wasn't going to do a weardrobe post. The thing that changed my mind was the fact that I had to see exactly what was wrong or right with the outfit. So I did! And after looking at the pictures I've decided....I like this outfit!! Yah for trial and error!!

If I were a boy...

So yesterday after feeling very un-inspired with my own weardrobe I went into my husband's weardrobe in search for some much needed inspiration. I found these jeans, which I think he hardly ever wears and decided I was gonna wear them and make an outfit around them. In order to not look completely look like a boy I put on a fitted sweater, neck scarf, and some stilleto ankle boots!! All in all I think it was a very good look.

Oh and my vacation is coming to a close so tomorrow it will be back to work for me and regular weardrobe posts for all of you!! I guess all good things must come to an end at some point. Have a blessed Sunday everyone!

Its better late than never!!

Yesterday was kind of busy and by the time we got home my husband was not feeling up to taking my picture. So since I'm just gonna be chilling at the home most of the day today I decided to re-dress in my outfit from yesterday so I could get an outfit picture. We are going out tonight with some friends so I did have to start doing something with my hair otherwise it might not cooperate later. I bascially ran around doing errands for my mom yesterday so I wanted to wear something that was warm and comfortable. Yes I know i'm wearing shorts but when you layer properly they actually are quite warm!!

Well happy Friday everyone!!

Casual, Comfy, & Soft!!

As promised here is my outfit post from yesterday. I didn't really do much until about 3:00. After I dropped the husband off at work I went to my parents house to hang out, have dinner, and do some laundry that I couldn't do at my house. Nothing super exciting but I still wanted to be comfortable since I would be sitting around their house. Since I bought this jacket a couple of days ago I knew that it was very very soft and would be perfect for sitting around. It may not have been the most fashionable outfit but it definetly was one of the comfiest.

Lucky girl...on a budget!

Its hump day!! I don't really know what that means but I figured I should at least say it once. Since I won't be getting dressed to go out until later I thought I would post the pictures of the things that I got for Valentines day, while shopping on Friday, and the items I got at the thrift store yesterday.

The rings are all Valentines/Anniversary presents from my hubby. They are all Lia Sophia rings and I absolutely love them. The one on the left is an everyday ring to wear on my right hand and lately I've even been wearing the blue one on the far right everyday too! I just love them!! The beautiful ring in the middle is a CZ and will be my stand in wedding ring while my husband gets my wedding rings re-dipped! I know some don't like big wedding rings but I'm not one of them!! I'm very much a fan of big bling. The lady at Zales said i'm a 10 table and I am..no lie!!

Here is a top picture of them. *Sigh*...i'm in love!!

The new jean leggings from H&M.
The old school Liz Claiborne purse from the thrift store yesterday.
The hat was an anniversary present for the hubs, its from H&M.
My $3 moccasins from American Eagle!!

My great new Jean dress from American Eagle.
Pink and tan shorts are from the thrift store.
Yellow Jacket is from the thrift store as well.

Tan and white shorts from Thrift Store
Yellow jacket and grey sweatshirt jackets both from the thrift store as well.

Tan vest is from the thrift store as well!!
You've already seen the Jean shirt I got from American Eagle. Also, the grey and pink dress from Charlotte Russe! I'm one lucky girl, i know!!
Weardrobe post to come later. Have a great day!!

Whats on your Inspiration Board??

I don't know if anyone else has a fashion board in their house but in my office its one of the big features! I put up pictures and saying and anything or anyone that inspires me. So on days when I get stuck I can go back and find some inspiration!! So today I thought I would share with you my inspiration board and some of the items on it!!

Fashionably Yours!

I absolutely love the style of Erin Kaplan from the City
This is a feature of her that was in Elle Magazine!

This was a Born shoe ad in my InStyle Magazine,
I love the layering and the texture in this look!

Sarah Jessica Parker is a big fashion inspiration for me
and I definetly adore Carrie from Sex and The City!!
I also love the layering in the other 2 looks!! Genius!!

Oops I did it again!!

Hey guys..hows it going?? Things are going great here on my staycation!! After dropping off the hubby at work today I decided to do some thrifting (I will have some pictures posted for you tomorrow). While looking at some jewelry at the thrift store the guy that was behind the counter started flirting with me. When I got to the cash register at the end of my trip this is what happened, first he asked me if I had a 50% off coupon, I said I didn't but I wish i did. He then complimented me on my shirt and said it made me look sexy (insert eye roll here). I said thanks and told him that it actually was a skirt. Apparently he was a little distracted because he couldn't remember what he was ringing up. I had one jacket that I wasn't so sure I could afford it so after I asked the sub-total he told me he would give it to me for 50% off too! Basically since the guy was hitting on me, i walked out with a bunch of stuff for only $21. No wonder the husband calls me clearance, does this ever happen to anyone else???

About the outfit, this dress is one of the dresses that I got at the mall on Friday. I absolutely love it and i'm very excited for all the fun ways that I can layer it!!

Pre-Valentines/Valentine's Day Style File

Happy Presidents Day to you all! I hope everyone enjoyed their Valentines Day weekend. I made sure I enjoyed my weekend considering it was two-fold. It was Valentines and it was mine and my husband's 1 year wedding anniversary. Once again he surprised amd and did it big!! Apparently some years back I told him to go big or go home and now it seems to be burned into his brain. Not that I mind or anything, it definetly keeps me one very spoiled loved woman.

Saturday night we went out to Chilis for dinner and I wore the outfit above. I bought this dress at the mall on Friday but unfortunately it doesn't look so hot on me by itself so i had to find a great way to layer it. I received this scarf from a lady I used to go to church with years and years ago. She said she could never figure out what to do with and she gave it to me (that honestly happens to me quite a lot so like Tim Gunn says, I make it work). This scarf has been worn as a skirt, has been decorative around my house, and now has worked as a top!! I love it but again sometimes run out of ideas to use it. I really enjoyed this outfit for sure. Before dinner my husband surprised me with not just 1 but 3 rings that I really wanted from Lia Sophia!! 1 of the rings is going to be an interm wedding ring while he gets my wedding rings re-dipped. Its beautiful and big of course. I will be posting pictures later.

Since yesterday was our anniversry we did quite a lot!! We met up with my parents for a little lunch and spent some quality time with them. After lunch we went to the mall and walked around and then went to see a movie with my brother-in-law and his girlfriend. The movie was great even though I didn't suspect it would be any good at all. We saw....The Book of Eli!! Before and during the movie antics was hilarious though and Im just glad we made it out without a fight breaking out. After that me and the hubs came home to spend some quality time together. The other outfit is below and the jean shirt is the new one that I just bought on Friday as well! Well all, I will gab at you later!! Enjoy the rest of your day if you have it off!!

Happy Anniversary/Happy Valentines Day!!

A year ago tomorrow (Valentine's Day) I married my very best friend!! The one who has stood by me through thick and thin and who has always believed in me and my dreams! The man who supports me without question, who always makes me laugh, and who spoils me to no end!! I couldn't be happier to be spending my love with someone who I love more than I ever knew I could and who is absolutely my very very very best friend in this whole world!! James, you are the best man I know and I'm so glad you chose me to spend your life with. I'm glad that I get to wake up to your face everyday and kiss you every night before we sleep. Happy 1 year anniversary!! I love you more than you know!!

(Sorry guys it was a little too mushy for you, I tried to tone down a bit..)

Unexpected: No hat on a bad hair day?!

After reading Kristin's 40's scarf tutorial over at http://leproustvintage.blogspot.com/ I decided that that was what I was gonna do with my hair for the day. I didn't really use a scarf technically, it was more like a belt from a dress, but I did use the same technique. I took yesterday off from work to start my vacation early. I didn't intend to but I ended up spending most of the day at the mall with my sister. We did some shopping, went and saw Dear John and even ate dinner there. I really hate the mall most of the time but yesterday I managed to get some great stuff there for unbeatable prices. I never ever shop at American Eagle but I'm glad I went in there yesterday! I got a jean shirt (that looks absolutely fantastic on me), a gorgeous jean looking summer dress and some moccasins all for $16!! How great is that?! I will post pictures later next week of all my newly acquired purchases!

This outfit was definetly a trying one. I had originally gone to the doctors office that morning wearing something completely different. When I got home I decided that I didn't like it but I wanted to continue to wear the head scarf!! So, i started throwing things out of my closet and making everything a mess to find something suitable to wear that I was happy with....and drum roll please....TA-DA!! This is it!

Bold: The long black skirt becomes a dress!!

Hey guys, so today is my Friday!! Yahooo for me. Let me just say right now sorry for the poor pictures today. Apparently my outfit doesn't want to photograph well today. The vest is a black fur vest and I'm wearing a white long sleeved shirt under the dress. Of course you can't tell this..
Oh well! I thought up this outfit the other night while trying to find a way to get the most out of my weardrobe. This is a long black skirt that I've worn a few times but not that often, so I decided to see how it worked as a dress...and...viola! I made it work (says the Tim Gunn voice in my head)! I also had to get one more wear out of these boots before I handed them back over. Well thats all i've got today...i'm short on witty things to say!
