Much Thanks!

Happy Memorial Day everyone. I just wanted to take a moment to say Thank You to all who serve our country so selflessly. It makes me glad to know that there are men and women out there still fighting for our country everyday. I may not be as strong as they are but I can definitely appreciate what they do everyday for all of us. So Thank You! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

On another note, since I have this lovely day off I'm off to the Salvation Army to do some serious thrifting. 50% off all clothing...now that's what I call a deal!

Praying for the sun

Not much to say today except have a great weekend everyone. If you are lucky like me you get a nice 4 day weekend! Can't wait..

Oh and I've been stalking someone lately. Rather something.. like this cute necklace and these fantastic shoes! I'm praying the prices go down some more before they are sold out. Either that or I can come into some money soon.

Love Letters..

The final show of Oprah was bittersweet and as I sat watching it (on my dvr of course) I felt I was a part of history. I honestly think it was probably one of her best shows because of her honesty and openness with the audience. Here are the lessons that I take away from it all..

You by yourself are enough. The only people who can make you complete are you and God! Remember that. No one can live your life for you. So take responsibility for your life and how you live it. Lastly, find your passion. Even if you never make money or have a career stemming from your passion, find it and live it.

So what lessons have you learned?

Inside/Outside

So have any of you watched the Oprah specials? Well I did, and I cried. Yep you heard me right. I teared up and I don't care what you think. The tributes that were made were so sweet. I'm also taping her last episode ever. It most definitely is the end of an era. I would not want to be the person who has to fill her time slot on the TV network. No sirree.

Alright let's take a vote now, do you like the inside picture better or the outside pictures better? The inside pictures actually happened because you couldn't really see the details of my outfit outside. It was really more of necessity then me just trying to be cute. Because I already am. Just kidding. Nope I'm not.

Eyes Wide Shut

Do you ever just have days where you are completely exhausted and have no idea why?! I did yesterday. I went to bed earlier than a senior citizen on Sunday night and yet come Monday I was ready to sleep all day. It was so bad that at one point I think I fell asleep standing up. It was embarrassing too considering I was talking to my manager at work. Ok so I exaggerate. Still, the exhaustion would not go away. Maybe I've got a rare disease or something, but I bet it's just that I'm getting old. Oy Vey!

Btw, don't you love my new necklace? The husband surprisd me with it on Sunday knowing that I've been wanting it and acutally almost bought it myself on Saturday. Yes, I'm spoiled.

Weekend Review

Well welcome back to another edition of Monday. If you guys weren't aware the rapture didn't take place and it looks like we are all still here. I guess that means I have to show up to work on Monday and continue on like any other day. Ah well...

Since I wasn't taken in a rapture, my husband and I went to a close friend's birthday party on Saturday evening. Most of my weekend was spent relaxing except for the party and some shopping. It was really nice, too bad it couldn't extend longer. So tell me, what was your weekend like?

5 Signs I'm not normal..

I'm not normal. And I can prove it. Here are only 5 reasons to start with, I may come up with more for you later.

As a disclaimer though, I'm OK with not being normal. To me normal is boring and I like to stand out. Also, I don't think my husband minds, but you can call and ask him at 555-5555 (I promise that's his real number ;) )

1. I don't care for dogs like most people do, they slopper, stink, and like to lick everything (even their own private parts). Eww Gross! Instead I would prefer to have a bird or may just the feather like shoes below..

2. I don't think Crocs are acceptable footwear. Ever. End of story.

3. I haven't watched all the Harry Potter movies. Doesn't appeal to me.

4. I don't have my ears pierced. Never have, never will. Last the hubs and I actually had this conversation;

Him: "It's a good thing you're ears aren't pierced"

Me: "Why?"

Him: "Because then I would really be screwed, more jewelry I would have to buy for you."

You're welcome.

5. I run like a duck. It's true, commence your laughing now. I can only tame it down a little if I really think about but it's just a milder duck.

Happy Friday!

Tomboy or lady in disguise?

So here I am. Yep that's me. I seem to have forgotten everything that I wanted to write to you guys about. I guess perhaps I should start carrying around a notepad to jot my ideas down when they come to me. I'll just attach the notebook and pen to a chain and be like Mr. T or Flavor Flav. In fact, let me get on that right now..

Patience is a virtue

Ask anyone and they will tell you that I have no patience whatsoever. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Although as I have gotten older I have gotten better at delayed gratification. Mostly because my budget and grown up responsibilities have forced me to. Nonetheless, its true.

Take this skirt for example. I saw a similar one in navy and white at Forever 21 months ago and desperately wanted it. I even searched the whole store to find another one in my size. But alas, I left the store empty handed. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago. While shopping at the thrift store with my mother I ran across this skirt. Exactly like the one at Forever 21 but in Pink and white (and probably cheaper). The colors were different but it made me feel like I had a one of a kind piece. Thank you Salvation Army! So moral of the story, sometimes patience and delayed gratification are a good thing! Who knew?!?

Btw, its was so cold here yesterday, so I had to bust out a sweater! The weather can't decide if it wants to stay spring or not! Ugh..

To cut or not to cut?

I recently read an interview with Reese Witherspoon and she was asked about her famous bangs. How they disappear and reappear quite often. She more or less said something along the lines of some days I wanna grow them out and some days I just decide its time to cut them (I obviously don't remember what she said but it was similar, just trust me). That's how I'm feeling these days, do I grow out my bangs or do I trim them up. For now I have decided to let them go until I can feel for sure what I want to do. But what do you think I should do, cut or not cut?

Woodland creatures..

Well it's that time again, time to take more pictures outside. Scratch that...its raining again, back indoors we go. Anyway, aren't these fantastic?! I like to turn my head this way and that way but you won't catch me looking straight at you. I don't do head on, its in my contract.

Do any of you have days where your outfit morphs as the day goes on? Well about 2 hours into wearing this outfit the shirt became untied and I just let it all hang. Not everything hung out, just the sweater.

Is it true?

I can't believe its actually gonna be spring around here! This week the weather man is predicting 60 and 70 degree weather with.....rain mixed in. I'm excited for the few sunny days in between all the rain but quite frankly the rain could go away for a while. And for those of you who live in nice climates all year round, not a word from you. Zip it.

So I hope you all had a great weekend and a nice mother's day because for most of us, it's back to work we go. Hi ho hi Ho, its off to work we go...

P.S.
I just noticed this, so let me answer your question. Yes my ankles are that small! At least I don't have to deal with kankles!

It's a juggling act

So last night I reached a point. A point that may happen in all of our lives where you realize that you can't do it all no matter how much you may really want to. I kept telling myself that I can do it all I just have to figure out a way to do. Well I can't. Unfortunately. So I am making a few compromises so I can do a little of everything and still be a healthy, well rested human being. Since giving up sleep and work aren't options I had to figure out a new way. I hope that my decision doesn't upset anyone because I'm just doing what's right for me. Please tell me I'm not the only one who this happens to.

Spring where art thou?

I don't know about you guys but here in Michigan the weather has been very rainy and miserable. I really wish the spring sun would come out to greet us already. So I've decided that if you can't bring spring to the state that I would bring spring to me. Spring colors seem to be my whole weardrobe this week. I'm pretty sure if I wear enough spring colors I can coax the sun to come out and play. Unless you have any other suggestions..

Super Savings Sunday - Finale

It's the finale of the super savings month. I've learned a lot along the way but the most important lesson that I've learned is that you don't have to spend a lot of money to get the things you need and sometimes even more.

As you can see I didn't buy a whole lot of things this week but I did have some fun getting some stuff at Borders (that came out of some tax refund money). So here's my breakdown for this week:

Kmart:

Total: $10.00
Saved: $9.90

Items: 10 Capri Sun Juice boxes. The retail value of these is $29.90, great savings!

Rite-Aid:

Total: $1.74
Saved: $34.09

Items: Veet, Bath Sponges, Hair Dye, Shaving Cream, 3 Musketeers

CVS:
Total: $.98
Saved: $ 7.18

Items: Iced Tea

Target:
Total: $7.05
Saved: $5.43

Items: Sunglasses, Gum, Nail Polish Remover, Reeses PB Cups

* I got the floss and the glade at Wal-Mart, they were both free items!*

Grand Total: $19.77

Since I spent some money at Vg's (about $10) I'm gonna say I spent a total of $29.77. Well within my budget by $15.23. Yahoo!!

For my border's trip I really scored. I got some great deals (don't know why the sunglasses are in this shot too, oops) and i'm super physched about my purchases. The CD was $16.99 but I had a 44% off coupon. All of the books except the Lauren Conrad book were B1G1 Free and the LC book was $5.99. I had to buy a lip gloss to use a $10 off $30 or more coupon. So my total for all of this ended up being $23.46 and I saved $30.04! I got a lot of reading to do now!*

*As a side note The shopping Diet book by Phillip Bloch is AMAZING!*

Joan Rivers called..

Joan Rivers called and said she was putting me on the worst dressed list only because my shoes looked like pumpkins. Maybe the bright orange socks didn't really go with the black shoes but I wanted to try something new. I guess it doesn't work if you get put on the worst dressed list by Joan Rivers herself!
